The PCRB IT Internship offers an opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge you’ve gained in school while contributing to company projects and playing a key role within the IT department. This paid internship provides hands-on experience aligned with your career objectives, helping to enhance your academic studies and expand your knowledge base.
The internship runs for approximately 7–10 weeks during the summer, beginning in early June and ending in late August.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Create root cause analysis documents for minor issues fixed in key PCRB applications by reverse engineering the code base
- Support and gain an understanding of the standard software development lifecycle using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
- Participate in and assist with application testing (including smoke and functional testing)
- Learn and utilize basic Git tools to understand code repository fundamentals
- Create technical documentation for new processes, as well as enhancements to existing documentation
- Assist the IT Infrastructure team in addressing system alerts and service interruptions
- Develop troubleshooting skills to diagnose, resolve, and communicate solutions to end-user IT issues
- Assist in configuring and deploying user equipment (laptops, docking stations, monitors, etc.)
- Apply research, problem-solving, and analytical skills to support end-users and project work
- Gain exposure to various IT areas, including applications, systems architecture, networking, and infrastructure
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Education:
Currently pursuing a B.S. in Information Systems/Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience:
No prior experience required. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn quickly and the ability to work both independently and with guidance.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of C# or VB .NET is beneficial, but not required
- Basic SQL skills are beneficial, but not required

- Ability to articulate IT’s role in supporting innovation, competitive differentiation, and business efficiency
- Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, and planning skills
- Solid decision-making abilities
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
- Fundamental knowledge of desktop hardware, operating systems, and computer networks
